ICANN Officials

ICANN is a vast and intricate organization that governs the global domain name system. Its structure includes numerous sections and layers of decision-making, involving experts from technical, governmental, commercial, and civil society backgrounds.

At its head, Kurt Erik Lindqvist serves as President and CEO, overseeing the organization’s direction. Among other influential people, Tripti Sinha chairs the Board of Directors, while Maarten Botterman, her predecessor, led during key institutional phases. Leon Felipe Sanchez sits on the Board, contributing legal insight and a focus on user interests. Becky Burr has long influenced ICANN’s legal and accountability frameworks. Chris Mondini handles international stakeholder engagement. Paul Twomey, as former CEO, helped ICANN expand globally.

Kim Davies manages the IANA functions, ensuring the stability of Internet core resources. Lawrence Strickling played a pivotal role in the transition of U.S. oversight of ICANN. Sally Costerton now serves as Senior Advisor to the President and SVP of Global Stakeholder Engagement. Veni Markovski supports government and stakeholder relations, especially in Eastern Europe. Rodrigo de la Parra leads regional engagement efforts across Latin America and the Caribbean.
