Lawrence Strickling

Lawrence Strickling is an American lawyer and policymaker who played a central role in internet governance. As head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) from 2009 to 2017, he oversaw U.S. internet policy and led the process that transferred the oversight of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions from the U.S. government to the global multi-stakeholder community in 2016. This transition finalized the privatization of key domain name system (DNS) management under ICANN's authority.
