ICANN organizes four main public meetings each year, each held on a different continent to ensure global participation: Annual General Meeting, Policy Forum and Community Forum. A fourth annual meeting varies in format and location but is generally tailored to regional outreach and capacity building.
In addition to these, ICANN hosts other events throughout the year, usually one to three times annually.
The Annual General Meeting, usually in the fourth quarter, is the most comprehensive, combining policy work, community updates, and leadership transitions.
The Policy Forum, held mid-year, is dedicated exclusively to policy development and serves as a working session for ongoing processes.
The Community Forum, typically in the first quarter, offers a balanced agenda with policy discussions, operational updates, and community engagement.
The Contracted Parties Summit gathers registries and registrars to address operational and compliance topics. The GDD Summit focuses on domain industry issues. ICANN also organizes technical events such as the DNS Symposium and Tech Days, aimed at the technical community to explore DNS research, security, and innovation.
Access is free. In practice, the rooms often only hold a handful of participants. For registrars, registries and the domain industry in general, ICANN meetings serve primarily as an opportunity for business meetings.
Our domain name events agenda indicates the date and location of the next ICANN Meeting as well as those of the main meetings, conferences and expos of the domain name sector.
