Appointed as ICANN's President and CEO on December 5, 2024, Swedish internet infrastructure sector expert Kurt-Erik Lindqvist served as CEO of the London Internet Exchange (LINX) and Netnod. He has also been active in the Internet Architecture Board, RIPE, and the Internet Engineering Task Force.
Kurt Erik "Kurtis" Lindqvist is an experienced technology executive and business leader who became the President and CEO of ICANN on December 5, 2024. With over 30 years of experience in engineering and business development within Internet service providers, Internet Exchange Points, and global network carriers, Lindqvist has focused his career on improving the stability, security, and accessibility of the Internet.
Before joining ICANN, Lindqvist was the CEO of the London Internet Exchange (LINX) from 2019 to 2024. He also served as CEO of Netnod from 2002 to 2015. Additionally, he chaired the European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX) from 2003 to 2020, showcasing his long-standing leadership in Internet infrastructure.
Kurt Erik Lindqvist has been a prominent figure in Internet governance and technical development, serving on the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) and leading working groups within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and RIPE, where he contributed to the development of key Internet standards and policies. He has also advised the Swedish government on Internet governance, broadband policy, and related areas, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Kurt Erik Lindqvist studied Computer Science at Uppsala University in Sweden and holds an Executive MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
