ISC (Internet Systems Consortium)

ISC (Internet Systems Consortium) is a U.S.-based nonprofit founded in 1994. It develops key open-source Internet infrastructure software, most notably BIND (the leading DNS server) and Kea (a modern DHCP server). ISC also operates F-Root, one of the 13 root DNS servers.

The organization is funded mainly through paid support contracts with ISPs, enterprises, and hardware vendors. It also receives some grants and donations. ISC contributes to Internet standards via the IETF and plays a central role in maintaining a stable, open Internet.
