Tim Berners-Lee is a British computer scientist born in 1955. He invented the World Wide Web in 1989, creating the first web browser, the HTML language and the HTTP protocol. His invention revolutionised access to information and online communication. He is also the founder of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which sets web standards.
