Domain name marketplaces

Leading Platforms

GoDaddy, who also owns Afternic and Dan.com, is the world leader for domain name buying and selling marketplaces and services.

Sedo, based in Germany, is the leader for buying and selling domain names in European languages.

The main advantage of Afternic and Sedo is that the domain names from their catalog which are offered for sale at a fixed price are displayed when users search for available domain name. A domain name availability search at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Ionos, and many more registrars will not only display available domain names, but also the exact domain name with its price.

Challengers

There are several dozens of other platforms for selling domain names, of which only a small proportion are used. These include the registrars Dynadot, Namesilo and Name, as well as the name catchers Snapnames, Namejet, Dropcatch and Nicsell, to name just a few in North America and in Europe.

Flippa, the world leader in buying and selling websites, also has a domain name section.

DNWE - Buying and selling domain names at reseller prices

SAV - Marketplace and backorders service

Dynadot marketplace - Registrar Dynadot's marketplace, with sellers from all over the world and names of average or low quality.

Namecheap - Marketplace of one of the world's leading registrars.

eBay - The sections for buying and selling domain names and websites are not very interesting, due to the insufficient proportion of professionals and the presence of spammers and swindlers of all kinds.
