A German company owned by United Internet Group, Sedo is one of the historical players in the industry and remains one of its leaders. The platform lists over 15 million domains for sale, at fixed or negotiable prices. Sedo employs around a hundred people, with its main office in Germany and a subsidiary in the United States.
However, it is not widely used for buying or selling domain names, as the market is highly fragmented.
The site offers negotiated price sales, auctions, and immediate purchase options. Sedo also provides a domain parking service, which generates most of its revenue.
Other services offered: website sales, paid domain appraisal, prerelease domain sales
Sedo's most profitable activity was long domain parking, but revenues dropped significantly after 2010. Following several lawsuits, Sedo's parking pages in French are no longer contextualized.
