Directory >> Law and IP Firms
The largest global law firms like Baker & McKenzie or Linklaters offer services relating to domain names, but do not make this a strong speciality. Among them, only Hogan Lovells is an ICANN registrar. The American Law Firm Greenberg Traurig has also developed a strong expertise in domain disputes resolution and brand protection.
All leading intellectual property firms have departments or lawyers responsible for protecting domain names, as part of their business. The largest players are often specialized in a region, like the Luxemburg-based Dennemeyer for Europe, Dannemann Siemsen for Latin America or Kangxin Partners and Wanhuida Intellectual Property for China.
IP companies specializing in brand protection naturally focus more on domain names issues. They include the Dutch Novagraaf, the Swede Abion (ex-BrandIT), UK’s Stobbs, the German law firms BARDEHLE PAGENBERG and SKW Schwarz and the French Plasseraud IP and Acumass.
Some smaller legal firms specialize in domain name disputes, management, and protection. This is the core activity of the UK’s Lexsynergy, France’s Dreyfus and Italy’s Studio Barbero.
The USA is the only country with some law firms, notably ESQwire, John Berryhill, JJN Solutions and Bernstein IP, specializing in defense and advisory services for domain owners.
