Born in Poland, Elisabeth Porteneuve is a French internet governance expert and a pioneering figure in the development of country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). She served as the first Secretary of ICANN’s Domain Name Supporting Organization (DNSO) from 1999 to 2002, where she played a key role in organizing its structure and election processes.
Porteneuve has been actively involved in the internationalization of domain names, serving on ICANN’s Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) Committee since 2001. She also contributed to the formation of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) and served on the board of CENTR, the Council of European National Top-Level Domain Registries.
In France, she worked as Counsel to the General Director of AFNIC, the French domain registry, and as Network Department Manager at CNRS (CETP laboratory).
