InternetNZ, also known as Ipurangi Aotearoa, is the organization that manages the .NZ domain name space. It sets policies, oversees the registry infrastructure, and accredits registrars, without selling domains directly.
The .NZ domain was first delegated in 1987 to the University of Waikato. In 1995, InternetNZ took over its management, establishing a community-based governance model. Today, it ensures the stability and openness of the .NZ top-level domain while supporting broader internet initiatives in New Zealand.
