NSD, for Name Server Daemon, is an open-source authoritative DNS server developed by NLnet Labs in the Netherlands. It was first released in 2002 and is designed specifically to serve DNS zones, with built-in support for DNSSEC. It is used by several top-level domain registries as part of their infrastructure.
