Akinori Maemura (前村 昌紀) is the Chief Policy Officer at JPNIC (Japan Network Information Center).
With over 30 years of experience in Internet technical operations and coordination, Maemura was the technical leader at one of Japan's first ISPs. He played a key role in coordinating ISP activities at the national level, including the founding of JANOG (Japan Network Operators’ Group) and managing IP addresses at JPNIC. His work later expanded regionally, serving on the Executive Council of APNIC from 2000 to 2016, including as Chair from 2003. He also served on ICANN’s Board of Directors for six years, concluding in 2022.
Currently, Akinori Maemura is a Board Director at JPCERT Coordination Center and a member of the Number Resource Organization’s Number Council (NRO NC).
