Directory >> Registries >> 3rd Level Domains
Third-level TLD registries are private operators that sell domains under their own second-level domains. These are not ICANN-sanctioned TLDs, but commercial platforms offering meaningful or brandable endings. They target global markets using generic or country-like terms.
Companies like IT.COM, CO.COM and CentralNIC Registry with US.COM, EU.COM, UK.COM and BR.COM offer services similar to a new gTLD registry, but for third-level domain names. This type of product has existed for a long time, yet significant advertising investments by IT.COM have recently brought renewed attention to this model.
