Pool.com was founded in 2003 and is part of Momentous, a controversial Canadian group of Internet infrastructure companies established by Rob Hall. Initially known for its dominance in dropcatching during the 2000s and early 2010s, Pool has evolved into a Web3 domain platform, offering Infinity Domains™—fully owned blockchain-based top-level domains minted on Ethereum and Polygon.
Pool says it allows users to issue and monetize second-level domains, while also providing traditional registrars with tools to enter the decentralized naming space.
Pool’s Infinity Domains platform allows users to create and own their own top-level domains (TLDs) on Ethereum and Polygon. Once a TLD is registered, the owner can mint and manage second-level domains under it, functioning like a registrar. Pool provides tools for DNS configuration and domain management, and domains are minted as NFTs on-chain. This gives TLD owners control over their namespace within a decentralized environment.
